ART: France Fiction at the Jeu de Paume
Experimental local collective France Fiction are currently presenting an exhibition at the Jeu de Paume. For the museum’s satellite programme, France Fiction have imagined a ‘Billes-Club Concordance Accident’, a new marbles club conceived specially for the Jeu de Paume, along with an inventory of the existing France Fiction marble clubs (‘Billes-Club du Palais Royal’, 2004; ‘Stockholm Kula Klubben’, 2007; ‘Billard Parisien’, 2007; the ‘London Marble Club’, 2008; ‘Berliner Murmel Klub, 2010). France Fiction began creating the Marble Clubs (Billes-Club) in 2004, sometimes in artistic contexts, sometimes not. They provide an occasion to create light, mobile forms of sociability that are carefully organised in terms of both play and aesthetics. They are open to all. France Fiction enjoy mystical meetings and encyclopaedic dissemination. Utopias and science fiction are among their central concerns, along with the traces of forgotten figures from the past, unwritten futures, and the blind spots of knowledge.
