LES BAINS AT MAGDA DANYSZ GALLERY

 In > art culture design

Earlier this year, between Jan & Apr, 50 street artists of different generations were invited to take over the former Marais temple to nightlife Les Bains Douches and make it their artistic playground. Over the four months, the different artists – including Jef Aerosol, Jerome Coton , Futura, Space Invader and Skki – payed homage to Les Bains in their own way, from graffiti and street art, to installation to light performance. The mythic club was finally closed to the public in 2010, but its golden age was really the 80s, when it rivalled Studio 54 for glamour and excess. Before being transformed into a luxury hotel designed by Tristan Auer and opening next summer, the owner collaborated with gallerist and curator Magda Danysz on this unique project. Only two photographers, Stéphane Bisseuil and Jérôme Coton, were allowed to enter the venue and join the crazy adventure. Today they present the photos they took, the only trace of these ephemeral works.
Until 27 July. 11am-7pm Tue-Fri, 2-7pm Sat.
