Charlotte Gainsbourg the face of Nicolas Ghesquière’s first scent for Balenciaga

The actress, a good friend of Ghesquière, already stars in the fashion brand’s Winter campaign, shot by David Simms and which broke in the August issue of UK Vogue. It’s surprising to see Gainsbourg’s typical low-key, jeans and no make-up look abandoned for Ghesquière’s space-ship science-fiction style. Asked why he chose Gainsbourg, Ghesquière told WWD, ‘Her unique sense of style, her graceful and intense talent have always been very inspirational for me. This fruitful and long-standing relationship Charlotte has with me and the house of Balenciaga gives all its meaning to this project.’ We’ll have to wait till February 2010 to discover the new scent, ‘Balenciaga Paris’.
