DAVID LACHAPELLE AT GALERIE DANIEL TEMPLON

 In > art culture design

Over-the top fashion and celebrity photographer, and filmmaker (Rize), David LaChapelle brings some of his art photos to Paris for a first solo show at Galerie Templon. Via two series Still Life and Last Supper, LaChapelle explores the underside of the American dream and the history of art. Portraits of damaged wax figures of celebrities, Still Life reflects the fragility of fame and power, examines the appeal of replicas of celebrities, as well as alluding to our fascination with the downfall of our heroes. In Last Supper, floating heads and hands are placed to resemble Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, conveying the resurgence of the spiritual in our materialistic world.
Until 26 July. 10am-7pm. Closed Sun.
