Designer's Days 2011
Paris Design Week is taking place later this month with its annual programme of design installations in galleries, shops and other public spaces throughout the city. The theme this year is ‘Conversations’, and will demonstrate design objects as the reflection of a conversation between a designer, a creator, a manufacturer, or an artisan. Some highlights include: Jaime Hayon presents a preview of The Zoo, a new series of porcelain and crystal boxes for Baccarat; after presenting their first furniture collection at the Milan Furniture Fair this year, Hermès joins Designer’s Days presenting ‘the’ Hermès chair by Denis Montel, along with Eric Benqué. Montel will present a special scenography in Hermès’ new Left Bank shop inspired by this chair; the hotly anticipated new Paris club ‘Silencio‘ designed by David Lynch will make it’s debut for Designer’s Days, hosting an acoustic sculpture by Kuntzel + Deygas, plus lectures & film screenings; for the first participation of superior design store and editor FR66 they’ll host a group show bringing together Dominique Mathieu, David Dubois and the stylists-designers Bless; concept store Merci will host an exhibition ’15 designers 15 artisans 1 graphic artist 1 critic 1 off’; a tribute exhibition to two design greats Michele de Lucchi and Andrea Branzi at Charles Zana architects; a group exhibition Rituels* (Ann Craven, Vidya Gastaldon, Markus Hansen, Alexandre Joly, Laurent Le Deunff, Théo Mercier, Alex Pou, Julien Salaud…) at the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard will invite the spectator to leave behind urban reality for a time in order take part in the ceremony… Consult the entire circuit here.
