ED VAN DER ELSKEN AT GALERIE VU'

 In > art culture design

Galerie VU’ presents for the first time in Paris a large selection of photographs from the groundbreaking series Love on the Left Bank by the Dutch photographer Ed Van der Elsken. This chronicle of the post-War bohemian youth of Saint-Germain-des-Prés marked the beginning of the photographer’s career and today occupies a major place in the history of photography. Breaking with the documentary style photography of the period, Ed Van der Elsken is as one with his subject, and his undeniable personal involvement is felt in each of the images. In a perfect harmony between the form and the substance, his modern screenshots and their almost cinematographic mood suit this avant-garde youth.
Until 31 Oct. 2-7pm. Closed Sun.
Galerie VU’, Hôtel Paul Delaroche, 58 rue Saint Lazare, 9th. www.galerievu.com/
