Rem Koolhaas at the Galerie des Galeries

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of their heritage-listed glass dome, Galeries Lafayette has invited the starchitect Rem Koolhaas – with OMA, his design studio – specialists in the design of shopping and retail spaces, to research and design a show. ‘1912-2012: Chronicles of a Creative Itinerary’ recounts the experience led by Galeries Lafayette over last hundred years: to combine culture and shopping under the famous glass dome erected in 1912 by the architect Ferdinand Chanut and the glass artist Jacques Gruber. By delving deeply into the Galeries Lafayette archives, AMO has successfully pieced together the story of the famous store, which also tells us about the history of France.
