'Faust' & 'The Dictator' out today
Russian master André Sukourov’s German-language Faust won the Golden Lion at the Berlin Film Festival this year. Sokurov again examines the corrupting nature of power, after films about Hitler, Lenin and Hirohito. When awarding the prize, 2012 Berlin jury president Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) said, ‘There are films which make you dream, make you cry, laugh and think, and there are films which change your life forever. This is one of those films.’ Also out today, another film about corrupt power, Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy The Dictator, “the heroic story of a North African dictator Admiral General Aladeen who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the Republic of Wadiya, the country he so lovingly oppressed” …
