'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' & 'Go Go Tales' out tomorrow
Two worthy films hit French screens tomorrow. Based on John Le Carré’s bestselling 1974 novel, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (La Taupe) is a brilliant thriller by director Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In) and nominated for 3 Oscars. It stars Gary Oldman as George Smiley, a career spy for Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service who finds himself at the centre of a deadly international spy game. And out of the archives, Indie fave Abel Ferrara’s 2007 film Go Go Tales finally scores a release here. This screwball comedy is set in a downtown Manhattan cabaret and stars Willem Dafoe as the charismatic cabaret impresario Ray Ruby whose club Paradise is a factory of dreams for young dancers. The stellar cast also boasts Bob Hoskins as The Baron, Mattew Modine as Johnie Ruby, Asia Argento as Monroe and Lou Doillon as French.
