Hi-Matic Hotel by Matali Crasset

A colourful, new 42-room hotel designed by Matali Crasset has just opened in Paris, near Bastille. The modular, ecological ‘hi’ hotel ‘concept’ started back in 2003 with the Hi Hotel in Nice. Award-winning designer Crasset has developed a new type of hotel: practical and accessible, mixing up the codes of an urban hotel and countryside bed and breakfast, and with strong ecological values. The hotel rooms are designed like a kind of cubby house, functional yet fun, and meant to trigger childhood memories. Room prices range from about 140-170 Euros per night, include organic continental breakfast and free wi-fi access, but right now the hotel is offering special promotional rates to celebrate the opening. Book online. (And by the way, Matali Crasset divulges her favourite spots in Paris in the current edition of our guide, both for iPhone and in print.)
71 rue de Charonne, 11th. +33 (0)1 43 67 56 56.
