Histoire idéale de la Mode contemporaine: 1990-2000
Alexander McQueen Spring 2004 Ready-to-Wear
The second part of this historical exhibition covers the fashion of the 90s and noughties, attempting to place the style of these 2 decades within their sociological, cultural, and political context. After the glitz and glamour of the 70s and 80s, comes a new, more cerebral era. Witness, via videos of significant défilés and garments, how designers like Azzedine Alaïa, Rei Kawakubo, Jean-Paul Gaultier or Yohji Yamamoto, Helmut Lang and Jil Sander, John Galliano and Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Viktor & Rolf, Martin Margiela, or Nicolas Ghesquière defined the epoque. There’s also an excellent catalogue, written by fashion intellectual and Director of the Musée Galliera Olivier Saillard, available.
Until 8 May. Tue-Fri, 11am-6pm (Thu, 9pm); Sat, Sun 10am-6pm.
