JAMES FRANCO AT COLETTE
There’s plenty of curiosity value at this, Hollywood Renaissance man of the moment James Franco’s first exhibition in France. The Animals brings together paintings, photographs, and video which collectively document performances he composed in which androgynous figures wearing Venetian masks and covered with wet paint engaged in a variety of physical activities, such as dance and dodge ball! They performed on top of canvasses printed with images from earlier enactments, leaving traces of their movements behind, resulting in work “stacked with multiple layers of information.” (Expect to pay 6,200€ for a painting.) And for the occasion, Colette is publishing a fanzine limited to 100 copies and a series of t-shirts from his series of Lindsay Lohan collages. You can also pick up his latest books including A California Childhood, The Dangerous Book Four Boys, and Rebel…
Until 2 Nov. 10am-7pm. Closed Sun.
