JC de Castelbajac at LA BANK galerie

The inquisitive, resilient and busy designer JC de Castelbajac continues to explore his various talents with a second solo art show, ‘The Tyranny Of Beauty’ opening tomorrow (6-9pm). The tyranny in question is that of an insatiable need to please, of youth’s domination, of a quest for immortality and of the denial of time past… Castelbajac has commissioned real Flemish tapestries and Chinese copyists to paint masterpieces of Western art , to which he then adds trait, logo, sign or brand obliteration. As if creams, capsules or other artifices could open up a path to eternal youth and stamp their radiant faces with indelible copyrights. By reproducing works from our heritage, the artist reclaims history and images of beauty at their height of refinement. Other, parallel news, is the opening this week of a second Paris JC de Castelbajac space, on the Left Bank, at 61 rue des St Peres 75006!
Until 23 Oct.
