Kenneth Anger at Galerie du Jour Agnès b.

 In > art culture design

Opening tonight 6pm at the Galerie du Jour is a second solo show from the influential underground experimental filmmaker and author Kenneth Anger. Presenting documents from Anger’s personal archives and collection, two of his early shorts will also be presented Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome (1954) and Puce Moment (1949) as well as the famous neon sign Hollywood Babylon. His now cult books Hollywood Babylon recount the juicy scandals and gossip from the lives of Hollywood film stars, running from the silent film era to stars of the 60s. This show follows on from a “carte blanche” given to the artist at the Etrange Festival, currently showing at the Forum des Images, for which Anger selected four films: Howard Hughes The Outlaw (1943), King Vidor’s Beyond the Forest (1949), Tod Browning’s Freaks (1932) and Michael Powell’s Peeping Tom (1960). Btw, Mr Anger, now in his 80s, will be present at the opening.
Until 3 Nov. Tue-Sat, noon-7pm.
