London Calling at the Forum des Images
The cinema center inside Les Halles, the Forum des Images is currently screening London Calling, a cycle of 100 films portraying multiple celluloid facets of England’s mythic capital (noir, multi-cultural, apocalyptic…), including a special focus on the city’s music culture: Franc Roddam’s ‘Quadrophenia’, Michael Winterbottom’s ‘9 Songs’, Nicolas Roeg’s ‘Performance’, but also Tim Burton’s ‘Sweeney Todd’, Hitchcock’s ‘The Lodger’, Stephen Frear’s ‘Dirty Pretty Things’… Browse the complete programme here. Mike Leigh was in town this past weekend presenting a masterclass, and other iconic UK creatives Isaac Julien (21-22 Jan) and Hanif Kureishi (21-22 Feb) will participate in the new year.
