NOUVELLES VAGUES AT THE PALAIS DE TOKYO
The Palais de Tokyo innovates once more with its new season ‘New Waves,’ spotlighting the emergence of the figure of the curator. The 21st-century curator is neither an art dealer nor an institutional curator, instead, here is a free spirit, a maverick looking for new directions, a nomad who knows no boundaries and is always searching for original poetic, aesthetic and political adventures. No longer the mouthpiece of a period or a movement, no longer the theorist of a new chapter of art history, they thrive on the challenge of working side by side with the artists. ‘Nouvelles Vagues’ testifies to this new artistic ecosystem. This large-scale event takes over the entire Palais de Tokyo as well as infiltrating 30 galleries and art spaces throughout Paris with 50 projects from 21 international young curators (hailing from 13 different countries), and presents a fresh perspective on today’s artistic practices.
