'Paris inondé 1910' at Galerie des Bibliothèques
One hundred years ago, in the last week of January 1910, Paris suffered one of the worst floods in the city’s history. The city was paralyzed: public transport came to a stand still, the sewers burst, and there was no electricity. The Galerie des Bibliothèques presents over 200 documents relating to the floods, including photographs, paintings, newspaper articles and public notices. There are some wonderful black-and-white images of people, in true Venetian style, using row boats to get around and climbing ladders to deliver packages through first-floor windows.
