Joining the macaroon (Ladurée, Pierre Hermé etc), then cupcake (Chloé S, Berko etc) craze, here comes a new vogue in patisserie: the cream puff. This original new cake concept in the Northern Marais, just next door to Comme des Garçons Play, is dedicated to choux pastry puffs: bite-size balls of light-as-a-feather choux pastry filled with different flavoured cream and custard fillings and coated with a minimal monochrome disc of icing in a matching flavour. Named after the Italian patissier who invented choux pastry back in 1540, Popelini prepares fresh puffs daily, and on the premises.
1.80€ per puff, or 6 for 11€.
