Public Domaine: Skateboard Culture at the Gaîté Lyrique

The Gaîté Lyrique’s summer show is dedicated to skateboard culture via the various artistic spheres that it influences: music, graphics, cinema, photography, fashion, video games… Over the years, skateboarding has forged itself a rich, evolving aesthetic and transformed itself in the course of its encounters with artists – from designers to musicians. There’s an exhibition throughout the Gaîté Lyrique which brings together different perspectives on the skateboarding culture via original creations, retrospectives and installations. There’s also concerts from bands including Dinosaur Jr, Tommy Guerrero, Mix Master Mike, Ray Barbee, McRad, Lords of The Underground, Boys Noize, Antipop Consortium, Busy P, Bad Shit, The Goat… Other events include ‘Skateboarding Day’ on Tue 21 June (Fête de la Musique), GIRL Skateboard Night on Wed 22 June, the ‘Etnies Nest 25 party’ on Thu 30 June, ’30 years of Thrasher magazine’ on Sat 2 July, and a NIKE SB party on Sat 2 July.
