The French Open, the Grand Slam tennis tournament, opened yesterday in Paris. Favourites for the clay court competition are last year’s winner and world number one Rafael Nadal for the Men’s Singles Final (Sun 5 June), though he’ll have to beat his rival Novak Djokovic who he just lost to in Rome. There’s no clear favourite for the women’s competition, though Kim Clijsters, world number two ranked, has just announced she’ll play after being out of action following an injury in March. The Women’s Singles Final will be played on  Sat 4 June.
Until Sun 5 June.
