SPRING BREAKERS & TO THE WONDER

Famously unorthodox, Harmony Korine‘s latest turn as writer/ director hits French screens this week: the surreal and sexy crime thriller Spring Breakers. Starring James Franco (127 Hours) as a diamond-studded, Florida thug, and Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine as the college-aged bandits he takes under his wing, Spring Breakers  is a classic heist set-up executed by some unexpected players demonstrating that “a little sun can bring out your dark side.” Also new to screens is To The Wonder (A la merveille), Terrence Malick’s follow up to his 2011 Palme d’Or winning Tree of Life. Starring Ben Affleck (Argo) and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), the film centers around their cross-continental romance, and more poetically man’s struggle to deal with the challenges of love.
