THE SUNKEN CHIP
Suffering from burger ennui? A couple of the guys from L’Inconnu plus half of Ménilmontant hotspot Roseval (aka Michael Greenwold) are behind the city’s first – and best! – fish and chip shop, the Sunken Chip. Located on the ever-evolving Rue des Vinaigriers in the 10th, the elegant canteen is just a short walk to the Canal, which provides an ideal water-side spot to enjoy your catch of the day. The menu proposes for example a set-menu of chips, battered fish, mushy peas + a drink for 14€. Plus there’s all sorts of authentically Brit sides, from home-made pickled onions or eggs to the “chip butty,” or chip sandwich, to English sodas including Ben Shaws Cream Soda or Vimto. Like everything else on the menu, the fish is of great quality; caught fresh daily and in France.
Noon-2.30pm, 7-10.30pm; Sun Noon-6pm. Closed Mon, Tue.
