Trading Museum Comme des Garçons

 In > shopping

Comme des Garçons opened a new retail space last week, their Trading Museum, in the same off-street Fbg-St-Honoré compound as their ever-expanding flagship store (and where Damir Doma will be opening by the end of the year too). As you might expect from Comme des Garçons, this is an original new concept: ‘a world where there is a reason and story behind all the goods we collect, show, display or sell. It will be a place where shopping is not the only objective…. A retail space beyond trends, outside fashion, where the barriers between trading and museum come tumbling down.’ They present a bunch of talents they support or collaborate with, like multimedia artist Katerina Jebb (who worked on the new scent’s arty campaign and presents an installation ‘Simulacrum and Hyperbolum’ until 29 Oct ), NY ceramicist James Salaiz, shoes from Daita Kimura, Taiwan fashion brand Flat Apartment, Thai talent Ek Thongprasert, UK fashion designer Christopher Nemeth… Comme also launched their new perfume ‘We Can Find Beautiful Things Without Consciousness’  here, which on top of the very spiritual name, smells like  “industrialized flower to go with the glue, an imaginary flower from an unknown civilization.” The bottle has been designed by Rei Kawakubo, and is made from recycled glass.
