TURNS AT GALERIE ALLEN

 In > art culture design

The second show at the city’s newest contemporary gallery is the group show Turns-Possibilities of Performance. Based on Baudrillard’s observations that description can be more powerful than the thing itself, the exhibition muses on how performance can be manifested in both sound and objects, and how the potential of peformance can be magnified in the human imagination. The four artists – Angelica Mesiti, Marc Hundley, Laurent Montaron, Laëtitia Badaut Haussmann, and the collective Parfums Pourpres du soleil des Pôles – each expose a certain position upon performative acts, from music, readings, science and the circus and the varied medium of sculpture, sound, printmaking and video. Hurry, the exhibition closes soon! (And coming up in January is a solo show from Hany Armanious, a Sydney artist who represented Australia at the Venice Biennale two years ago.)
Wed-Sat, 2pm-7pm. Until 21 Dec.
