JOHN CURRIN AT GAGOSIAN
The New York painter brings his signature and heady mix of historic technique, humour and fantasy to Paris for his first painting exhibition here. With inspirations as diverse as Old Master portraits, pin-ups, pornography, and B-movies, Currin continues to provoke and titillate with perverse images of women, from lusty nymphs and dour matrons to more ethereal feminine prototypes, searching for the point at which the beautiful and the grotesque are held in perfect balance.
