MOTION FACTORY AT THE GAITE LYRIQUE
Open to the public from today, the new show at the Gaité Lyrique takes you behind the scenes of “tactile” animated filmaking, halfway been the hand-made and the digital avant-garde. Curator Yves Geleyn presents the new generation of animators – including Mikey Please, Elliot Dear, Johnny Kelly or Conor Finnegan – who use their imaginations to reinvent and adapt the DIY tradition of tactile animation to contemporary tools. Paris-based design studio 5.5 has conceived the scenography as a factory composed of a series of colourful studios including a projection room where you can watch shorts, a stop-motion video game, as well as a collaborative film set, the Atelier KinoFactory.
