TAKASHI MURAKAMI PAINTS SELF-PORTRAITS

 In > art culture design

Japanese contemporary art superstar is back in his Paris HQ for an exhibition of never before seen self-portraits. The artist’s pot-bellied effigy is represented alongside some of his most enduring characters: the cute little Kaikai and Kiki, and the subversive, bodily-fluid ejecting HIROPON and Lonesome cowboy. Murakami’s trademark blurring of high and low art, all part of his ‘superflat’ concept, is also ever present, with a room dedicated to his collaboration with hip-hop star Kanye West and plenty of Murakami merchandise, from stickers to limited-edition prints, available for purchase at the gallery.
