Indie hero Michel Gondry’s new film is a 3D Hollywood action blockbuster. ‘The Green Hornet’ (Le Frelon Vert) is an adaptation of a successful post-war American radio drama cum TV series cum comic book that recount the adventures of a Britt Reid, a crime-fighting, masked trust-funder and playboy, and his side-kick Kato. A slimmed-down Seth Rogen (‘Knocked Up’, ‘Pineapple Express’) is star and co-writer, with Evan Goldberg, of this 2010 film version, with Michel Gondry using some of the film’s huge budget of 130$ million to develop a slick new special effect (goodbye to the tape and twine) ‘Kato-vision’, where different speeds are incorporated into a single frame, to show how Kato envisions then executes a fight. Out on Wednesday.
