EMPIRE STATE AT THADDAEUS ROPAC PANTIN
Curated by senior London curator Norman Rosenthal and the ‘young’ US curator, writer and editor Alex Gartenfeld, this museum quality group show explores the constantly shifting realities and mythologies of New York City. An ambitious inter-generational survey, it presents the work of 25 renowned and emerging New York City artists – including Jeff Koons, Julian Schnabel or Dan Graham – and suggests how they might re-imagine the relationship between their community and the life of the city. With painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installation, and including important new work, the artists in Empire State examine their city’s enduring relevance to the world at a moment when urban life is being redefined rapidly everywhere.
Until 15 Feb. 10am-7pm. Closed Sun, Mon.
