Festival d'Automne 2011

Opening next month is the 40th edition of one of the city’s major arts festivals, the Festival d’Automne. With a  poster designed by Paris based artist Anri Sala (who will present his film 1395 Days without Red), the festival flaunts a multitude of talents: dance by contemporary masters like William Forsythe and his Ballet Royal of Flanders, the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, London’s DV8, .. have you hugged, kissed and respected your brown Venus today? from South African choreographer Robyn Orlin; an exciting theatrical collaboration between Robert Wilson, Lou Reed, and the Berliner Ensemble Lulu; a number of compositions by John Cage; Charles Atlas’s final collaboration with Merce Cunningham, the film Ocean; the Flemish dramaturg Guy Cassiers presents Coeur Tenebreux, an adaptation of Conrad’s Heart of Darkness; acclaimed American theatre director Richard Maxwell and his company New York City Players present their new play Neutral Hero...
