Festival des Inrocks 2010
Taking centre stage, with trousers round ankles and squatting over the competition this week, is the week-long Inrocks Festival, taking place around the city. From Wed 3 through Tue 9, you lucky folk will have the opportunity to watch established indie acts such as LCD Soundsystem (Mon 8, Zénith) and Local Natives (Sat 6, Cigale) play alongside some of the genre’s best newcomers like Warpaint (Sat 6, Cigale). Others worth noting include The Acorn and Beach House, who join Midlake for a stellar Thursday night (4 Nov) line-up at La Cigale. Find the complete program, and reserve your tickets here. But, if you do intend to look elsewhere there is plenty of partying to be had. As far as fun live performers go Darwin Deez are among the most entertaining out there today. What do you do if you only have one album worth of material that hasn’t been widely heard? Answer: You include improvised and choreographed dance routines in between songs. The result looks something similar to a bunch of hipsters trying to recreate an OKGO music video whilst having the time of their lives, a spectacle certainly worth a trip down to La Boule Noire (Thu 4 Nov) to see.
