Restless by Gus Van Sant
Indie idol Gus Van Sant’s latest feature ‘Restless’ was released in France yesterday. His most mainstream effort to date, it’s the story of a two death-obsessed teenagers Annabel (Mia Wasikowska), bravely dying of a brain tumor, and brooding outsider Enoch (Henry, son of Dennis, Hopper) still coming to terms with the death of his parents in a car accident, who fall in love. Reviews have been mixed, encompassing ‘whimsy overload’, ‘delicate and clumsy, tender and twee’, to ‘slight and frequently cloying’… you be the judge.
